Osteopathy uses manual therapy techniques similar to those applied by a chiropractor and physiotherapist. 

These include:

• Manipulation
• Soft tissue work
• Stretching
• Muscle energy techniques and more specialised applications such as;
• Cranio-sacral work and
• Balanced ligamentous tension 

Osteopathy believes in the ability of the body to heal itself and the relationship between function and structure (i.e. with abnormal structure comes dysfunction)   

Treatment aims to assess the function and structure of the body and determine why it has a problem.  Determining why the body produces specific symptoms assists in providing diagnosis and treatment whilst developing a strategy to prevent its recurrence in the future.
